Mini Dental Implants in Los Angeles

A smaller, more affordable implant option — particularly effective for stabilizing lower dentures and replacing smaller teeth.

What Are Mini Dental Implants?

Mini dental implants (MDIs) are smaller-diameter versions of traditional implants — typically less than 3mm wide, compared to the standard 3.5–5mm. Their smaller size allows placement in areas where bone volume is limited, and the procedure is often less invasive with a shorter recovery.

Mini implants are most commonly used to stabilize lower dentures, which have a tendency to slip or cause discomfort. Four mini implants placed in the lower jaw can snap a denture into place — providing significantly improved stability and confidence.

They can also be used to replace smaller teeth (lower incisors, for example) where a standard-size implant would not fit comfortably.

Mini vs Standard Implants

Mini implants are ideal when bone volume is limited, when stabilizing dentures, or for replacing smaller teeth.

Standard implants are preferred for most full-size tooth replacements — they provide greater stability for higher bite forces.

Dr. Nam will recommend the best option based on your bone structure, the tooth location, and your goals.

The Mini Implant Process

Mini implant treatment is quick and minimally invasive — often completed in a single visit. Here is what to expect from consultation to a stable new smile.

01

Consultation & Imaging

Dr. Nam examines your jaw and uses 3D CBCT imaging to confirm mini implants are the right fit and to plan the exact placement for a secure result.

02

Minimally Invasive Placement

The narrow implants are placed through the gum with little to no incision — a gentler procedure that usually means less swelling and a faster recovery.

03

Immediate Function

In many cases the mini implants can support a stabilized denture or restoration right away, so you leave with noticeably improved stability the same day.

04

Healing & Follow-Up

Over the following weeks the implants integrate with the bone. Dr. Nam checks your fit and comfort to ensure a lasting, confident result.
